SALONE – Milan
For the 2023 edition of the Design Week in Milan, OFFICE designed the pavilion for the furniture brand KNOLL. The pavilion reconsiders what modernism stands for, reenacting some if its tropes — architecture and structure coincide in a flowing transparent space organised by a grid that makes room for the Knoll icons. This is a place that embraces the contemporary dilemma of parallel living and working, where leisure is not at odds with sustainability, with its structure easily dismantled and recombined. As a background to the icons of modernism, the pavilion brings about the ghosts from the past, enhancing its legacy and—along the way—making a case for another history.
